2009 Tournament Rules
a) Tournaments may be added or cancelled during the course of the season by the Tournament Committee based on need or circumstances within the Association and/or club.
b) Tournaments will be played in accordance with the principals of “The Rules of Golf” and the “USGA Handicap System”.
c) The tournament schedule containing starting times, registration deadlines and entry fees will be posted in the pro shop and the club web-site (www.bellemeadecountryclub.org).
d) Unless otherwise posted in advance, REGISTRATION for MGA Saturday events ends 1pm Friday the day prior to the Saturday event.
e) Entry fee for each MGA event will be $15 plus cart (required) fee unless otherwise noted/posted for a particular event. Prizes for all events will in the form of cash or gift certificate (redeemable in the pro shop for merchandise only).
f) Each member is responsible for registering for each event with the pro shop (706-595-4511) by the registration deadline posted for the event.
g) In order to minimize inconveniences, players MUST notify the pro shop and/or tournament chairman at the earliest opportunity if they wish to withdraw from an event they are registered in.
h) Check-in and payment of fees should be done at least 30 minutes, but no later than 15 minutes before the designated starting time for the event.
i) All events will be played with full handicap unless otherwise noted for a particular event. Players not having a USGA handicap will be assigned one by the handicap committee for a reasonable time to allow the member the opportunity to post the minimum number of scores (5) to establish a handicap. NOTE: All MGA members must establish a handicap to compete in Association events. It is the KEY ingredient to producing competitive tournaments that are truly fair for each and every participant.
j) UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED for a particular event, pairings and starting assignments will be made by the Tournament Committee and may not be altered except by the Tournament Committee/Chairman.
k) Scorecards will be provided by the Tournament Committee. The first name listed on the card is considered CAPTAIN of the group with the following responsibilities: 1) Keeping score 2) Enforcing the rules of golf and rules of the day 3) Turning in a properly totaled and completed scorecard to the tournament committee immediately after the round 4) Maintain pace of play within his group.
l) Tees: Unless otherwise stated for a particular event, players should choose to play from the tees most often played to establish their handicap index or that best matches the player’s ability.
m) The Tournament Committee/Chairman serves as the RULES Committee/Chairman for all MGA events.
Note: MGA tournaments/events are limited to MGA members only unless otherwise noted for a particular event. Non-MGA members are not allowed to play in MGA events without prior approval of the Tournament Chairman, must have a verifiable handicap, must be registered with the MGA member by the registration deadline. **This allowance is intended for out of town guest of the MGA member **
